Mexican State Passes Same Sex Marriage

From Gay.com

The legislature for the northern Mexican state of Coahuila on Thursday approved a law recognizing same-sex unions, the second assembly to take such an action in the predominantly Roman Catholic nation.

The measure, which will provide same-sex couples with numerous social benefits similar to those of married couples, was approved with 20 votes in favor and 13 votes against, said Rep. Julieta Lopez of the centrist Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI. Lopez helped the draft the bill.

Coahuila Gov. Humberto Moreira, who is also in the PRI, is expected to sign the bill into law.

In November, the Mexico City assembly passed a similar measure for the first time in the nation's history. That law has been sharply criticized by the Roman Catholic Church and the conservative National Action Party of President Felipe Calderon.

While homosexuality is still taboo in many rural parts of Latin America, the region's urban areas are becoming more socially liberal. Mexico City and Coahuila join the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires and the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul in legalizing same-sex civil unions. At the national level, lawmakers in Costa Rica and Colombia have debated, but not passed, similar measures. (AP)

Marriage FOREVER!!!!

This just in from AP.

Lynchburg, VA - A new bill would make it more difficult for you to get a divorce in Virginia and the group behind it says it's for the sake of the children. The Family Foundation says in divorces where there are "irreconcilable differences" both spouses will have to consent, making it more difficult.

That is only families with minor children. The Foundation says marriages that stay together, turn around and it's best for the children, but they say this would not apply to marriages involving abuse.

The Alliance for Families and Children says marriage is a serious commitment, but pre-marital counseling could save you from divorce.

Tom Prest, CEO Alliance for Families and Children - "I think if we do things that make it more difficult to get out of a marriage, looking at things like rolling back the no-fault divorce, maybe looking at the wrong things. Because at that point when people are seeking a no fault divorce, they've gone down a road where the relationship has deteriorated to the point that they're considering that."

The Family Foundation is the same group that sponsored the marriage amendment, which passed here in Virginia in November.

HERE FUCKIN HERE!!!!!! They stopped queers in Virginia FROM getting married, now let's make DAMN sure heterosexuals STAY married FOREVER!!!!!!! No matter what......
Hell, I'm all for people staying together "For the sake of the children" even in an abusive, loveless marriage that will drain the soul out of everyone involved. Let's teach the children well!!!!!!

Andrew Sullivan Part 2

The above link is an explanation of his admitted mistake in supporting the Iraq war.

Seems that once I've started posting about Andrew Sullivan, he's been in the news more. Hmmmmmm...........

Hey Mr. Sullivan!!!!! Drop me a line!!!!!! Love to meet you in DC sometime!!!!!!

Virgil Goode (R-Va) White Anglosaxon Christian Old-men (WACOs)Part 2

This is the new Op-Ed piece Rep Goode (R-Va) wrote in USA Today:

Opposing view: Save Judeo-Christian values
Immigration leaves USA vulnerable to Muslim extremists’ infiltration.

By Virgil Goode

A letter I sent in early December was written in response to hundreds of e-mails from constituents upset about Rep.-elect Keith Ellison's decision to use the Quran in connection with his congressional swearing-in. Their communications followed media reports that Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat, had said that he would swear on the Quran. He repeated that at a gathering of Muslims in Detroit on Dec. 26.

My letter did not call for a religious test for prospective members of Congress, as some have charged. Americans have the right to elect any person of their choosing to represent them. I indicated to my constituents that I did not subscribe to the Quran in any way, and I intended to use the Bible in connection with my swearing-in. I also stated that the Ten Commandments and "In God We Trust" are on the wall of my office, and I have no intention of displaying the Quran in my office. That is my choice, and I stand by my position and do not apologize for it.

My letter also stated, "If American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Quran."

Immigration is arguably the most important issue facing the country today. At least 12 million immigrants are here illegally. And diversity visas, a program initiated in 1990 to grant visas to people from countries that had low U.S. immigration at that time, are bringing in 50,000 a year from various parts of the world, including the Middle East.

Let us remember that we were not attacked by a nation on 9/11; we were attacked by extremists who acted in the name of the Islamic religion. I believe that if we do not stop illegal immigration totally, reduce legal immigration and end diversity visas, we are leaving ourselves vulnerable to infiltration by those who want to mold the United States into the image of their religion, rather than working within the Judeo-Christian principles that have made us a beacon for freedom-loving persons around the world.

Rep. Virgil Goode is a Republican from Virginia's 5th congressional district.

Mr. Goode,
I would like to humbly add that although I agree with some of your points on immigration: THIS IS NOT AN IMMIGRATION ISSUE. If you REALLY want to explain to your constituents that this country is being corrupted by religious extremists you should try being gay in Virginia and see what organized religion has done to "MOLD" this great country in it's image of Jude0-Christian priniciples!!!!!!!!!

Andrew Sullivan

A gay Conservative? I don't agree with everything he has to say, but he deserves a look.
OK I'll admit it he's a hot fucker especially after I saw him in action on "The Daily Show". Let's see: he lives in DC and I'm three hours away...........WOOF!!!!!!!
